Speech-Language Therapy

Let us help you find your voice.

Speech-language therapy treats disorders affecting speech, language, cognition, voice, or swallowing, aiming to enhance daily functioning and communication.

Speech-Language Therapy

Stroke, brain injury, brain tumors, or diseases like Parkinson’s and ALS can cause problems with speech or swallowing. Young children might also have delays in speaking or understanding language. If you have trouble finding words or speaking clearly, speech therapy can help improve the damaged areas of your brain.

Swallowing Disorders

Swallowing disorders can cause serious health issues like weight loss, dehydration, aspiration, pneumonia, and malnutrition.

Besides speech therapy, we use video fluoroscopy to assess swallowing. This X-ray video captures real-time images of the head and throat while a person eats and drinks, helping us evaluate the swallowing process.

Common Speech-Language and Swallowing Treatments

Trust Hegg Speech-Language Therapy to treat a variety of speech-language therapy treatments, such as:

  • Dysphagia management to retrain chewing, sucking, and swallowing
  • Cognitive therapy to enhance attention, memory, and problem-solving
  • Speech therapy to improve sound pronunciation
  • Language therapy to develop receptive and expressive language skills
  • Voice therapy to optimize voice use and eliminate harmful habits

What to Expect

Before treatment begins, your speech therapist will conduct an initial evaluation. For swallowing troubles, your therapist may refer you for a video fluoroscopy to assess your throat’s swallowing.

After your evaluation, your therapist will develop a treatment plan using techniques designed specifically to help with your condition.
